AS A TRUSTEE

The voice of experience you can trust.   After listening to and acting on behalf of children, parents, teachers, staff, administration, the Board, and the broader community for more than 30 years, Alice Anne has shown her deep commitment to Catholic Education and the broader Ontario educational community through her work on numerous committees, Boards, Associations, as well as participation in governmental meetings at municipal, provincial and federal levels.

Children are her passion.  Alice Anne firmly believes that every child has the right to reach his / her own potential. She believes in creating an environment of learning that allows our children to reach their full potential. She knows how easy it is for children to fall through the cracks and not obtain the support they need to find their own path in life.  It is through this belief that Alice Anne has been instrumental in improving Special Education programs in the HCDSB, as well as undertaking many discussions with Ministers of Education, to advocate the need for Apprenticeship programs for students seeking trades.

Alice Anne believes in creating positive relationships at all levels of the school system.  She is respected by students, parents, staff, and administrators.  In addition to her work at the Board level, she makes it a priority to attend as many school celebrations, masses, and events as possible throughout the school year.

Former Halton CDSB Director of Education (and now General Secretary of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario), Lou Piovesan describes Alice Anne as a “respected trustee”, who has “earned the respect of trustees, staff, school councils, union leaders, parents, as well as municipal and provincial politicians”, and who has a “steadfast dedication to serving the Catholic school community”.

Alice Anne believes that having a Catholic Education is about having a balance of education and faith.

Alice Anne recognizes that each level of administration of the Board has a role and a responsibility.  As a trustee for more than 30 years, she understands it is the responsibility of the trustee to set policy that allows the administrators of the Halton Catholic District School Board to do their work in a manner that puts the needs of the students first, supports Catholic faith, and meets the legislative and budgetary requirements of the Ontario Government.
